Resurfacing

Resurfacing is about the moment when you begin to feel yourself coming back to the surface.

I wanted this painting to capture a gentle kind of transformation. Almost imperceptible but you know, deep down, that something is shifting.

Waterlilies felt particularly meaningful for this piece, almost like an extension of her. They became a beautiful way of expressing what I wanted this painting to hold: the possibility of emerging from a darker period.

May this mermaid be a reminder that even after periods when you have felt submerged, you can find your way back to the surface. Gently and in your own time.
