Just for a While

This little painting holds one of the simplest ideas at the heart of The In Between: allowing ourselves to pause.

She isn’t swimming towards anything or trying to find her way. She is simply there, still and present. To me, mermaids represent freedom and here it takes a gentler form: the freedom to stop, to rest, and to simply be for a while.

Because of its intimate scale, I imagine this little mermaid living among the objects you have gathered and chosen over time. Propped on a shelf or sideboard beside books, shells, ceramics, photographs or other small treasures.
